A pool, lake, river, kiddie pool – anything to help keep cool. This Labor Day weekend will not be a fun one to just be outside.

Our Heat Advisory continues thru Saturday evening, with actual air temperatures in the upper 90s, possibly hitting 100° and heat index values in the 105-109° range.

Please take precautions against the heat this weekend. Heat related illnesses can sneak up on anyone. For those that are planning on being outdoors for long periods of time, take frequent breaks and stay hydrated.

Even those that have evening plans (looking at you FNL fans), it’ll still be hot. Just because it isn’t the hottest part of the day, doesn’t mean heat related illnesses can’t happen.

I suppose the somewhat good news is that starting Sunday, highs will “only” be in the mid 90s with slightly lower humidity. So while it won’t feel as bad, it’ll still be hot.

Wattery chances aren’t zero, but they are pretty low today and Saturday. Similar to the past couple of days, can’t totally rule out a stray afternoon/early evening shower/storm.

For Saturday, models think a cluster of storms pushes down thru Kentucky and into the Cumberland Plateau, missing us off to the east. There are in pretty good agreement that we are left out of all that, but we’ll keep an eye on it in case things change.

I don’t see any reason to change any plans, although you probably won’t want to be outside regardless with just how hot it is.

Rain chances drop to near zero for Sunday into the middle of next week before low chances return later on.

In terms of beneficial rainfall, unless you get lucky with the Wattery, there honestly isn’t any in the foreseeable future.

For cooler temperatures, every single ensemble supports highs in the 90s over at least the next 10 days. Don’t shoot the messenger.
