Our gross, disgusting stretch of hot temperatures continues.

To put this stretch into perspective…

Our Heat Advisory continues through Friday evening, and I won’t be surprised if it’s extended until Saturday.

High temperatures will be in the upper 90s, nearing 100°. Dewpoints around 70° will send heat index values in the 105-109° range.

Even though we are entering tailgate and football season, it sure won’t feel like it. Please use caution outdoors, especially if you have to be out for long periods of time. Take frequent breaks and stay hydrated, heat-related illnesses can affect anyone.

In terms of a cooldown, I guess you could say we do ever-so-slightly starting Sunday, with highs “only” in the mid 90s. But in terms of actual cool, Fall-like weather – there’s none in sight, or anything even close to that. Mid 90s is still hot, and around 10° above average for this time of year.

However, if there is any good news, models have slowly started to like our Wattery (water + lottery) chances more this week, which could bring some rain and briefly “cooler” temperatures.

Nothing to get too excited about, with PoPs only around 10-20% in the afternoon/evening the rest of this week into early next week, but any brief shower/storm would be welcomed with open arms. I don’t see a reason to alter any outdoor plans, but as usual, keep an eye on the radar and if thunder roars – go indoors.

Warmer than average and drier than average conditions are favored over the next 2 weeks.

Also, a Code Orange Air Quality Alert will be in effect until 8p this evening.
