Unsurprisingly, NWS Nashville issued a Heat Advisory that will start Wednesday morning and go thru Friday evening. Although today isn’t technically included, it’ll still be stupid hot, so I’m going to just group it all together.

Actual air temperatures throughout the week will be in the upper 90s, nearing 100°. If we do reach the forecasted high of 100° for Wednesday, that would break the daily record high of 99° set in 2011. With how dry we’ve been recently and the strength of this upper-level ridge, it sure wouldn’t shock me if we did hit the triple digits a day or two.

Dewpoints will hang out in the low 70s, bringing heat index values in the 105-109° range.

This is just gross, uncomfortable heat. Please continue to take precautions this week against the heat. Just because this heat is happening in September, doesn’t mean it’s any less dangerous than when it occurs in July. Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks if you must be outdoors for long periods of time.

In terms of hope for some rain to cool us off, there’s not much of it.

While it’s not a complete no – the odds just aren’t in our favor.

Low end (10-20%) rain chances return Friday and stick around thru early next week. These are just the typical isolated Wattery chances with not too many winning tickets.

Essentially every ensemble (lots of models put together) agrees that we see very little rain over the next 10 days, all showing signs of less than 0.5″ during this time. Of course, this isn’t a certainty, and if you do get lucky and win the Wattery a few times, totals could easily surpass that amount.

However, signs point to a pretty dry week or so ahead. Apologies to local grass.
