Today (Thursday) will be the last day of Wattery (water + lottery) chances before we get an extended break.

Winning tickets will generally be few and far between today. Chances will mostly be confined to the afternoon and evening. No severe weather is expected today, but per usual, any thunderstorm could contain heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds. Don’t see a reason to cancel outdoor plans but certainly keep an eye on the radar. Friday will begin our extended stretch of dry weather. No rain is expected thru at least the middle of next week as a ridge parks itself over the eastern part of the country.

In exchange for the dry weather, our temperatures will be…hot.

Our average high for late August/early September is 87-88°, and it’s likely we stay above that over at least the next week. Highs will climb into the mid 90s by early next week, with heat index values nearing 100°.

We are so close to football season, but the weather refuses to cooperate.
