Extreme Heat Warning thru This Evening, Wattery Returns Wednesday

A couple more days of dangerous heat to get thru, before we return to our regular August heat.

An Extreme Heat Warning continues today thru 7p. Actual air temperatures will make a run at 100°, with heat index values peaking near 112°. Please, continue to take it easy in this heat. If you have to be outdoors for long periods of time, stay hydrated and take frequent breaks. *Never* leave a child or pet unaccompanied in a vehicle for any amount of time.

Know the symptoms of heat-related illness, and what to do if someone is experiencing those symptoms.

We’ll go to a Heat Advisory for tomorrow, with heat index values peaking near 105°. Slightly better, but that’s still stupid hot.

The good news is that Monday will likely be our last day with any heat-related headlines. Now it’s still August, so it will still be hot, but temperatures will relax a tad, getting back into the low to mid 90s.

If you hear about any severe weather threat for tomorrow, we are not included. That threat is really confined off to our east towards the Plateau.

Storms are expected to fire off to the east, missing us entirely. Of course, models aren’t perfect, so we’ll keep an eye on things, but there’s pretty solid agreement amongst them.

Tuesday appears to be dry, then low to medium daily Wattery (water + lottery) chances return on Wednesday, continuing thru the end of the week. Hard to dive too much into those specifics just yet. We’ll keep y’all posted.
