Yeah, it’s summer, but this abnormally hot for this time of year.

Our average high is 88°, which we passed at 9a this morning.

We’re on our way to an actual air temperature of near 100°, with heat index values peaking near 110-112°.

Our Extreme Heat Warning continues thru Sunday evening, although it won’t surprise me if NWS Nashville continues some sort of heat-related headline into Monday.

Please continue to take precautions against the heat, especially those with outdoor plans this weekend. Stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and watch out for others – especially the elderly and youth. Know the symptoms of heat-related illness, and what to do if someone is experiencing those symptoms. *Never* leave a child or pet unaccompanied inside a vehicle for any amount of time – look before you lock.

There is at least some relief in sight.

A “cold” front will drop down on Monday – although I’d really just call it a front, there’s nothing cold about it. However, this will at least reintroduce some rain/storm chances in the afternoon/evening which could help cool things down. No severe weather is currently expected. As high-res models come into range over the next 24 hours, we’ll get a better idea on things.

Low-end Wattery (water + lottery) chances stick around thru the middle and end of next week as the pesky NW flow returns. Any winners will see some showers/storms and in return, a drop in temperatures.

As a whole, high temperatures relax a bit towards the end of next week as the ridge loses a bit of its grip on us.
