The main headline for this week continues to be the gross, dangerously hot temperature + dewpoint combination.

High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s, nearing 100°. With dewpoints in the low to mid 70s, heat index values will be in the 105-109° range. Our Heat Advisory continues thru Friday evening and will likely be extended into this weekend.

It’s worth noting, I don’t quite think we make it to 100°. Local research shows it is very difficult for us to make it to 100° when the 30-day rainfall is above average – and we are certainly that. Regardless of if the air temperature is 99° v. 100°, it will still be dangerously hot. Throughout the week and into this weekend, please use extra caution against this heat. Take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and keep an eye out for heat related illnesses in others, especially children and the elderly.

We have another day of a conditional storm threat on hand.

Similar to last night, we’ll be watching as storm clusters dive south from Kentucky, into the area. Any ETA will probably be some point this evening/tonight – but that’s if the storms make it.

Again, models handle this sort of set up very poorly, so we’ll have to rely more on observations as opposed to model data.

Like yesterday, we are again outlooked with a 5% chance of damaging straight-line winds within 25 miles. Also, cannot rule out some localized flash flooding in areas, just with how saturated the grounds already are.

We’ll keep an eye on things all day and will post updates to all of our socials as needed.

Rain/storm chances begin to dwindle down starting Thursday, nearing zero by Friday and this weekend. Likely getting no relief from the heat from a passing shower/storm.
