Certainly more comfortable outside this morning compared to yesterday, with dewpoints about 10° lower, now in the lower 60s. Not too bad for late July.

Similar weather today and Friday. Those nicer dewpoints stick around with highs near 90°. No rain. About as good as it gets by summer standards as we close out July – which I have no clue how we are about to enter the eighth month of the year.

These nicer days will be relatively short-lived as storm chances come right back into the picture on Saturday.

Not surprisingly, the Storm Prediction Center has outlooked our area with a 5% chance of severe weather within 25 miles.

“Locally damaging wind gusts appear to be the primary hazard with the most intense storms; however, some tornado threat could materialize from portions of IN and OH into middle TN within the zone of stronger low-level shear.” says SPC

As of right now, it seems we may start off the morning with just some showers/t-storms, clearing during the middle of the day, then a broken line of storms swinging thru at some point in the afternoon/evening. This is very much written in pencil, meant to be erased and rewritten as new data continues to flow in.

The risk of flash flooding appears pretty low right now, with around 1 – 1.5″ of rain expected, although any slow-moving thunderstorm(s) will have to be watched.

After Saturday, we return to the pattern of low to medium Wattery (water + lottery) chances daily thru the middle of next week, mainly confined to the afternoon and early evening. The good news is that our high temps stay somewhat reasonable in the mid to upper 80s.
