While we will be dry (and hot) during the day today, we are looking at the possibility of a wind bag later tonight.

The Storm Prediction Center has introduced a 15% chance of damaging straight-line winds and a 2% chance of a tornado within 25 miles for us. We are not included in any hail probabilities.

An I-24 Special as we call it, or a line of storms that moves NW to SE will likely swing in sometime during the early morning hours of Monday.

The HRRR model thinks it’s feasible we could see two rounds of storms, although the first one may miss us. Most likely ETA seems to be between midnight and 4a. I’m already thinking about what coffee I’ll be drinking.

Now this isn’t something that you need to stay up for but have a way to wake up in case a warning is issued for you. Whether it’s your Wireless Emergency Alerts, NOAA Weather Radio, a wake-me-up app – the more, the better. Do not rely on a siren to wake you up.

It’s possible we see some outages as this moves through, so double check that your phone is plugged in tonight before you hit the sack. Given all the rain we’ve seen recently, it’s also possible that we deal with some localized flash flooding issues as well.

We’ll be able to track this as it moves thru KY and give us a better idea of how strong it’ll be when it finally reaches us. We’ll be up watching this as it moves through, sending out updates on all of our socials.

Monday kicks off our Heat Advisory that runs thru Tuesday. Heat index values will be in the 105-110° range in the afternoon. If you have to be outdoors for long periods of time, be sure to take precautions like staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks. Know the signs of heat illness and what to do if you are someone else is experiencing any symptoms.

Wattery-type showers and storms will be possible Monday afternoon and early evening. We’ll also be looking for another potential at a cluster of storms late Monday night, but we’ll have to wait and see – models don’t pick up on these things very well until the day of.

More Wattery (water + lottery) chances Tuesday afternoon, could help cool things off if you do see one. Wednesday thru Friday look dry and not as hot.
