Our cooler and drier air has arrived. At 9a, BNA reported a temperature of 72° with a dewpoint of 59°.

This won’t last forever, so get out and enjoy it. Today and Friday will be good days to catch up on yardwork.

Both the heat and humidity return in an unkind way starting on Sunday. Back to temperatures in the 90s and dewpoints in the 70s. Summer slaps us in the face and reminds us that it’s still July and we have a way to go.

Dry today and Friday. No rain chances – something that I feel like I haven’t been able to say the entire month of July. The Wattery finally gives us a break.

Not a long break, as Wattery (water + lottery) chances return Saturday. Models suggest scattered showers/storms will be possible throughout the day, beginning in the morning, lasting through the evening.

The good news – no severe weather is expected. However, the typical hazards will still exist – lightning, heavy rain and maybe some gusty winds. Those with outdoor plans should keep an eye on the forecast and have an indoor place to go to in case a storm rolls thru.

We’ll be able to get more into the specifics here soon as the high-res models come into range.

Early next week looks somewhat dry, although low rain chances hang around.

New Drought Monitor got released today. As I’m sure you can guess, we continue to see improvement. Only northern Davidson included in the Abnormally Dry category. The rest of us aren’t included in any sort of category.
