Before we dive into tomorrow, we do have a Heat Advisory to deal with today. Heat index values will be near 105° this afternoon. Be sure to take precautions against the heat if you have the be outdoors for long periods of time, including staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks.

Wattery chances do today, but activity should be few and far between. Can’t rule out an isolated shower or storm sometime this afternoon and evening but think the majority of us stay dry today.

Before the storms on Tuesday, it’ll be another hot one. High temps in the mid 90s paired with gross humidity will again send heat index values around 105° as our Heat Advisory remains in effect. Continue to take precautions against the heat and know the signs of heat illnesses.

Onto the storms, the Storm Prediction Center has our area outlooked with a 5-15% chance of damaging straight-line winds within 25 miles. While we are technically not included in any tornado probabilities, we cannot rule out a spin-up tornado embedded within the line of storms.

We’ll be watching as a line of storms pushes S from Kentucky, likely reaching our area sometime Tuesday evening/night. That’s about as specific as we can get right now. Sometime tomorrow we’ll be able to come to a better ETA, especially as the line forms in KY.

Here’s the HRRR’s guesstimate on how things could play out, but it’s certainly not exactly right:

The main threats will be damaging straight-line winds and flash flooding (given all the rain we’ve received recently). Based on some of the high-res models runs, it appears that our atmosphere may be able to support a very low-end threat for a spin-up tornado within the line. The tornado threat will largely depend on when the line arrives, and just how much instability (storm fuel) it’ll have to work with. We’ll keep an eye on it.

Be sure to stay weather aware and stay connected for updates. We’ll be able to watch the line as it forms and moves through Kentucky, and this will give us a better idea of what to expect from it.

Wednesday morning, we may wake up with a few lingering showers, but the rest of the day will be dry.

This will be the start of our drier and “cooler” stretch, with highs only in the 80s for a few days – which will feel amazing. Wednesday thru Friday will be dry before low rain chances return Saturday and Sunday.
