We have three more days of storms to get through before we finally get a pattern change.

Today (Sunday), will be more of the Wattery (water + lottery) variety. Scattered showers + storms possible thru the evening hours. Not expecting any severe weather today, but we’ll be watching for the possibility of localized flash flooding with any slow-moving or training storms. And of course, any storm could contain lightning, so heads up to those with outdoor plans today – when thunder roars, go indoors.

We’ll be watching the radar all day and will post updates on all of our socials as needed.

It’ll be a hot one if you don’t get a shower or storm to cool you off. Highs in the low 90s with dewpoints in the low to mid 70s will send heat index values around 100°. Be cautious if you have to be outside for long periods of time.

Monday is another day of playing the Wattery, but coverage of showers/storms looks to be more isolated compared to Sunday. Same hazards apply though, heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds all possible. No severe weather is expected.

Another hot one, highs again reaching into the low to mid 90s, paired with gross humidity. Heat index values once again getting around 100°. Nothing abnormal, but it doesn’t make it any less gross.

Tuesday is our last day in this pattern and will also be the day we have to keep an eye on the most.

We’ll be watching as a cold front pushes from NW to SE, reaching our area sometime Tuesday evening/night, bringing a chance for a line of storms. The Storm Prediction Center has gone ahead and outlooked most of us with a 15% chance of severe weather within 25 miles. We’ll get the individual hazard threats starting tomorrow, but as of right now the main threat appears to be damaging straight-line winds.

High-res models will start coming into range later today and we’ll be able to dive into more specifics soon. For now, keep an eye on the forecast, as things can (and probably will) change.

Before the storms arrive, Tuesday will be the hottest day out of the next week. Highs in the mid 90s paired with plenty of moisture will send heat index values near 105° in the afternoon. A Heat Advisory may be needed, we’ll see. Regardless, be sure to take precautions against the heat.

The good news is that after the cold front does push thru, things will at least get a little cooler and drier. “Cold” front is a bit of a stretch, but we’ll at least get a break from the 90s for a couple of days. We’ll take those any way we can get in late July.
