20-25 Degrees Below(!) Average Next Week

Headlines:

  • 20-25° below average early next week…
  • Rainy Friday PM/Saturday AM

Main highlight of the upcoming forecast will be the brutally cold temperatures arriving early next week. ‘

“As we move into next week, models continue to favor another very cold week with ensembles showing temperatures as much as 25 degrees below normal.” – NWS Nashville AFD

For reference, average temps for this time of year are high of 47°, low of 30°.

Temps will likely struggle to get above freezing at least Sunday thru Tuesday, with lows getting down in the teens – wind chill values in the single digits possible.

Rain chances return on Friday, models are leaning towards Friday evening. This looks like all rain, none of that frozen stuff.

Rain to end sometime Saturday, probably around midday. No severe concerns, just rain. Rainfall totals around 1″ expected.

Maybeeee a few flurries on Sunday as our legit cold air arrives, but no accumulation expected.

Still some rumblings on winter weather potential early to middle next week…

“Both the NBM and the Canadian are picking up on possible wintry precip next Monday, but NBM PoP (probability of precipitation) remains low, around 15%. Right now, the biggest impact will be the cold.” – NWS Nashville AFD

Nothing super noteworthy right now…just something to keep an eye on. The main deal will be the brutal cold.

Winterize your home. Inspect your chimney. Caulk and weather strip doors/windows. Insulate exposed pipes. Insulate your attic. Clean out gutters. Install and test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors (with battery backups). Gather supplies.
