A Sus Series of Weekendy Weakening Disturbances: What To Know for CMA Fest 24

The first disturbance feat. rain “should fizzle on Saturday,” all quotes from the NWS-Nashville forecast discussion. So that looks good, but note: side-eye:

  • Check back tomorrow. HRRR model had a line of rain approaching Saturday morning. It should weaken but let’s not be supercertain about that.

Second disturbance ETA Saturday night. “We look for good chances for rain and some lightning Saturday night through Sunday morning.”

  • Severe weather (damaging winds, hail, tornado) not forecast. Atmosphere too stable for that.
  • Euro hourly model runs had very little rain, if any, until well after midnight. Hoping this timing holds.

Disturbance three: “Scattered showers and storms may linger through Sunday afternoon as a cold front approaches.”

  • Timing confidence is low but if I’m betting on a rain event to impact CMAs or outdoor basket weaving conferences this is where I’m shoving my nickels into the pot.

How to Prep.

  • Pack one of those small ponchos just in case.
  • Keep an eye on radar. Beat the weather unaware to shelter.
  • Hydrate Sunday morning. Comfy humidity Fri-Sat will turn uncomfy Sun when dewps hit mid 60s. You’ll feel that a little bit esp if you’ve been consuming alky Sat night. And y’all: deodorant, you don’t have to be sophisticated, but we’re operating a society here.
  • Pretty great Fest weather, all things considered. Fest is often 90+ deegs with near 70 dewps causing heat strokes. Not this year!
