HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT SATURDAY... * HEAT INDEX VALUES...105 TO 110 DEGREES EACH AFTERNOON. * IMPACTS...PROLONGED EXPOSURE OUTSIDE MAY CAUSE HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES SUCH AS HEAT EXHAUSTION OR HEAT STROKE. OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES WILL PROVIDE LITTLE RELIEF FROM THE HEAT. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS. TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS...IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
Humid air and warm temperatures with a forcing mechanism equals thunderstorm chances. Saturday is your typical summer day, with thunderstorm chances in the afternoon. Here’s the 4KM NAM at 7PM:
You could find yourself buried under one of these showers/storms, and they will contain heavy rainfall.
Extended Outlook: HOT, Muggy, Increasing Storm Chances
The middle-end to next week looks relieving, according to NWS Nashville:
Thursday - Friday...what is that in the extended long range models? Is that actually some much needed relief in the heat on the horizon??? Well, yes. Yes it is. Or at least we`re all hoping so as the upper ridge shifts well off to the west and somewhat westerly zonal flow develops. Good news...with this active pattern setting up, the region can expect much better chances for showers and thunderstorms Thursday through next weekend as an upper trough approaches the area. So let`s get through the heat and humidity of this weekend and look forward to a little relief in the way of showers and thunderstorms by next week`s end.
