A beautiful day is in store for us on this hump day.
Expect a mostly sunny sky with temperatures in the upper 80s. Dew points will stay in the upper 50s this afternoon = comfortable.
High pressure is keeping things dry for today and tomorrow.
Thursday – Plenty of Sunshine – High: 88°
High pressure continues to keep us rain free for Thursday. There will be an increase in humidity with dew points reaching the low 60s.
Southwesterly winds will be calm during the day. There will be a few pop up showers in the afternoon moving eastward into the area. Not anticipating a washout, in fact, we may not see anything at all.
Right now the story is a cold front expected to sweep through later this week. The models have slowed the front down a bit, but for now there is a chance of isolated showers in the area Thursday evening.
Friday – Rain, Maybe a Storm, & Cooler – High: 79°
Winds will shift from the south to out of the north in the afternoon. We will be in front of an upper level shortwave by Friday afternoon.
This just means that we will see shower and thunderstorm development in the afternoon on Friday. Right now we don’t expect severe weather, thanks to missing essential storm dynamics, but with surface dewpoints in the low/mid 60°s and anticipated moderate lapse rates aloft, we could squeeze out a few storms of little/no consequence.
The shortwave will be overhead Friday evening into early Saturday morning. That is when the cold front is expected to come through.
We remain on rain-out alert. Right now, NWS forecasts 0.14″ of rain, which is enough to rain out some, but not all, fields. If rain lingers into the overnight hours Friday night/Saturday morning, we could be pushing 0.20″, which is bad news for Sporty Sportspersons.
