COLD …. But Gradually Warming Later This Week

Today – Below Freezing – 31°  (Wind Chill 22°)

At 3 AM, a few misbehaving flurries pushed east of Nashville, leaving us bitterly cold and dry. This morning was the coldest the lower 48 states have been since 1976… 85 percent of the continental US experienced at or below freezing conditions which affected 226 million Americans!

COLD HRRR

This high today will likely not get above freezing.

Tonight, we will get back into the lower 20’s under clear skies.

Wednesday – Cold … But Warming Up – Wake Up 20° (Wind Chill 10°), High 48°

After the morning low near 20°, a southerly wind will warm us into the upper 40°s under mostly sunny skies.

Thursday – Still Cold, Still Warming – Wake Up 29°, High 45°

Extended Forecast

Mention of freezing rain on Friday morning: As a warm front lifts into Middle Tennessee, there could be a brief period of freezing rain before the ground temps lift above freezing, but that appears to be unlikely. We aren’t expecting travel impacts right now, but it’s something to watch. I’m always nervous when we see temps in the low 30°s with precip hanging around.

This Front will usher in 50’s by Saturday and 60’s by Sunday! Rain, and maybe thunderstorms, are possible Sunday.
